Dear AIESEC Toronto and prospective members,

On behalf of the incoming executive board, I would like to welcome you to the 2010-2011 term. This year marks the 50th anniversary of AIESEC Toronto and is another important milestone in our local committee’s (LC’s) history. At this point, we would like to thank the outgoing executive team for their efforts over the past year, their support during our transition, and their wisdom for the future. After 50 years of excellence, we are at a stage of tremendous change and potential moving toward the future.

Two weeks into the term, our LC is busy implementing new initiatives for all our stakeholders. For our members, we are currently planning summer retreats for each portfolio, networking opportunities with alumni and corporate partners, outlining a workshop series for personal and professional development, and setting agendas for General Assemblies. An AIESEC newsletter and internal websites are under development to improve communication. On the internship side, marketing activities are underway to generate new partnerships and to create job opportunities for interns from abroad. For interested exchange participants, our outgoing exchange team is currently recruiting to send Canadians abroad on life-changing work experiences. For our alumni, we have an upcoming GTA alumni event on March 26th. And in May, our members have the amazing opportunity to attend this year’s National Leadership Development Conference in Manitoba.

AIESEC Toronto is on the brink of achieving new heights. To build a strong foundation for the future, this year’s executive team has instigated a three-year strategic plan to guide the growth of the LC. In simple words, our vision is to achieve sustainable excellence. Our definition of excellence is to deliver high quality results and a high quality AIESEC experience for all members. These results should be delivered on a consistent basis, and we plan to sustain this through talent pipeline planning, stronger communication, and active mentorship.

Yet we cannot achieve these results alone. You, the membership, are the key driving force. This month’s GA marked the unveiling of AIESEC Toronto’s first long-term strategic plan, and every single member has the opportunity to make their impact on the local committee through their contribution. Your contribution within your portfolios is not just some task being completed as part of your title. Instead, it is a key piece in the big puzzle of achieving this vision. Together, now is the time for us to lay the building blocks for the foundation of the best LC in Canada. Every member has the ability to make a difference.

We look forward to working with you in the upcoming year. Together, let's make AIESEC Toronto bigger and better than ever before.

Sincerely,

Roshan Singh

Local Committee President 2010-2011
