Where do internships come from?
|
Follow these steps and you can start working abroad!
The following steps are intended for students who are interested in going abroad in 2010. Should you wish to go abroad at a later date or would like to join AIESEC to activate your leadership potential, please click here for the steps to becoming a member of AIESEC.
1. Fill out our Global Internship Program Online Application.
You can find the link by clicking here. New: You do not have to be a current AIESEC member to apply for our Global Internship Program!
2. Schedule an Expectations Meeting (Optional)
Outgoing Exchange team would be happy to explore your opportunities and answer any questions you may have about the Global Internship program. Please Contact Us to schedule your one-on-one.
3. Attend the Review Board. You will go through two sets of interviews - one by AIESECers and one by a board of industry, academic representatives and AIESEC alumni to ensure that you are suitable to become an AIESEC representative abroad. Externals will also be able to make recommendations in regards to your resumé, qualifications and the specific positions that you are seeking. This is just like a job interview. After you pass the review board, you will become an official Exchange Participant and member of AIESEC! You will also be able to pay your administration fee of $415 + $85 refundable deposit (it's well worth it!), as well as $20 for your membership card. --- At this point, you will be set to hunt for your internship. Here's how we help!
4. Schedule an Expectations Meeting and find your internship!
An experienced AIESEC member will be matched to you and personally guide you through the entire process of applying for an internship through our internal database - myaiesec.net. You will have to register for an account at myaiesec.net.
Our Exchange Participant managers will also guide you personally on your search for your internship. Within a couple of months, you’ll be ready for the job of a lifetime!
5. Get Involved Locally
After you become a full-fledged member, you can join a portfolio and start helping the Local Committee. There
are many leadership opportunities and you’ll be well mentored every
step of the way.
Although this step is optional before applying to the Global Internship Program, it is recommended that
you give back to the Local Committee and learn more about the opportunities offered before going abroad.
---
We also make sure that you are prepared before you go and keep in touch while you are gone!
6. Attend a Cultural Preparation seminar
In the weeks before you depart on your exchange, you will attend a Cultural Preparation seminar to help you prepare for the culture shock that accompanies an exchange. You will also learn about AIESEC abroad and how they will welcome you to your new home on your arrival.
7. Go Abroad!
On your arrival at your destination, you will be greeted by AIESECers from the Local Committee in the city to which you are travelling! They will welcome you at the airport, help you get your bank account and permits and even show you around town! In Toronto, we will also keep in touch with you when you are abroad and make sure that you are having a wonderful experience.
8. Re-integrate into our Local Committee
After you return from your internship, we ask that you share your wonderful experiences with potential new members and exchange participants. More information will be given to you before you depart for your internship.
--- Please Contact Us if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in our Global Internship program! |
