  Leadership Opportunities

Organizational Structure 

The Local Committee supports all activities pertaining to the AIESEC experience. The core focus of AIESEC work is exchanges and he Local Committee facilitates this by separating strategic areas of work surrounding the exchange process into portfolios. Within these portfolios young people can attain many leadership opportunities. Whether one wants to learn how to sell ideas to businesses or to develop retention strategies within Human Resources, the Local Committee is able to support these processes. Within the Local Committee, 7 Distinct portfolios exist. These portfolios are inerdependent on one another, yet hold a clear self-administration from each other. 

 

Portfolio Descriptions

Talent Management

The Talent Management Porfolio is responsible for both recruiing and providing learning opportunities to the membership. Talent Mangement plays a crucial role in the allocation of talent and mapping the leadership pipeline of the Local Committee. Its purpose is to help manage, shape and develop the talent that each member brings to the Local Committee through assesssment of strengths and areas of improvement to adequately allocate members to positions and teams to bring their individual potential to the next level. Thus, Talent Management is responsible for the professional development of the General membership.

 

Corporate Development

The Corporate Development portfolio is responsible for creating, maintaining, and building on the external partnerships and relationships with AIESEC's corporate stakeholers. Members of this portfolio market the Global Internship Program to companies as a means of responding to their recruitment needs and allowing them a direct link to the international potential of young people. Through servicing activities they ensure a high number of qualitity internships for incoming interns and provide a source of partnership revenue for the Local Committee.

 

Finance

The Finance portfolio is responsible for the budgeting, tracking, and reporting of AIESEC'S revenues and expenses, as well as supervising the Local Committees projects. Using standard templates, financial software, and financial policies and reporting procedures, AIESEC produces accurate and consolidated quarterly statements that keep the financial history of the Local Committee intact.

 

 Incoming Exchange

The Incoming Exchange portfolio are responsible for the delivery of our core program: exchange. Incoming Exchange enxures that all internships raised are matched with an intern, and that the intern is properly integrated into the Ottawa community through community & Local Committee acitivies. It is also the responsibility of Incoming Exchange to ensure that the company is receiving the proper servicing during and post-inernship. 

 

Outgoing Exchange

The Outgoing Exchange portfolio is concerns with preparing current members to go abroad by helping them understand the challenges, and opportunities they will face. Outgoing Exchange is also responsible for the service of interns abroad. An integral piece of the AIESEC Experience is the opportunity to obtain culturally challening experiences - The exchange portfolios  are responsible for this task.

 

 Alumni Relations

 The Alumni Relations portfolio is responsible for engaging alumni with activities and opportunities to remain "in touch" with AIESEC and their own networks built through the organization. Alumni can give back to AIESEC via contributions of time, feedback, advice, or support.

 

Communication

The Communication Portfolio is responsible for informing the university, external communiies, and our business networks about AIESEC's activities through the website and any other available media. Also, the communication portfolio is responsible for fundraising to cover costs relating to Local Committee activities, Conference delegate fees and travel expenses, and Events held for the external community and corporate stakeholders.
