"AIESEC" was formerly a French acronym for "Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales”(translates to: International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences). Today, we no longer use this name as our membership has grown to encompass a much wider range of disciplines than only economics and commerce - we are simply AIESEC.

2. What countries is AIESEC in?
AIESEC is currently present in 103 countries, and constantly expanding to more and more countries everyday. To find out whether or not AIESECis in a specific country or region, please contact our office or go to www.aiesec.org.

3. I am not a business/commerce student, can I still join?
Absolutely! Although AIESEC Ottawa is an official Telfer School of Business student group, our local and international opportunities are available to students from any faculty. In fact, many of our Executive Board Members are in other programs.

Dates for these events can be foun don our Upcoming Events page. If these opportunities are not clear, or you would like more information, please contact us.

Conferences are a special opportunity for members to network with each other and with leaders in the corporate community, learn about relevant issues to increase their global awareness, and gain in-depth leadership and AIESEC-specific training. Please visit AIESEC Canada's conferences page for more information.

7. Can I get Co-op credit for an AIESEC internship?
It is possible to receive credit through the Business and Engineering Co-op Programs at The University of Ottawa- you will need to speak with your Co-op coordinator for more information.

8. When are AIESEC's meetings?
We hold a General Assembly bi-weekly that all members are expected to attend. In order to accomodate for as many schedules as possible, the day of the General Assembly has been set to Sunday evenings at 7:00PM. Members that are unable to attend a General Assembly are expected to contact our Tracking at aiesecottawa.tracking@gmail.com prior to the date of the meeting with their reason for absence.
